Halloween

Lady Corvina Gearhart and Professor Alistair Finch

Halloween is over and the makeup is all washed away… almost. Those glitter freckles are hard to get off! LOL Today I want to take a moment to reflect on my favorite memories from last night.

First of all… y’all just look at how gorgeous this man is! There’s a reason I swoon and it is NOT the corset. (Although last night it really might have been the corset…not gonna lie.) But look at him! He committed to the bit. From the shiny silver pants to the studded leather gloves. The hat with the custom hat band we sewed yesterday and the turkey feather that he found in the woods. The shirt and cravat that he so lovingly steamed all the wrinkles out of before covering it all up with that coat. I’m so proud to be his partner in this crazy life that we lead! That’s my most favorite memory from the night.

This whole thing was just fun to throw together! The cowboy boots that you can’t see, but which FIT my legs!!! The skirt that is obviously too big (still blows my mind) which I needed to tighten up a bunch. The corset from Spirit that I was literally ready to throw at the closet door an hour before this picture was taken. The glowing heart locket that I made from supplies I got at Michaels…and then the lady from Michaels came to trick or treat with her family!! I’ll probably never put it all on this way again, but boy was it fun!! I truly felt comfortable in my own skin…except for the breathing part near the end. There’s a reason women used to pass out a lot. Corsets.

So in no particular order, these are some of my favorite moments from last night.

The lady who told me that she had been coming to the Blair Family Halloween Party since she was pregnant with her daughter…who is now a senior in high school.

The little girl who came up to me and told me that she had just watched me on FB live (because I mean who REALLY watches those, right??) She was so excited!

All the little girls that I got to ask, “Are you a good witch or a bad witch?”

The group of kids who were ferociously barking like Dawgs and then the little girl who said, “I don’t know why I’m barking but I like it.”

Seeing a friend from high school who had NO idea who I was when I hugged her neck. I didn’t tell her. Let her figure it out. LOL

The bravery of little kids to go up and stand between those two creepy characters to get their candy.

The teenagers and young adults who unapologetically showed up and showed out in costumes and wanted to get their pictures taken… and didn’t really even care about the candy. They were all so respectful and polite.

The Troll Dolls who sat next to the line and gave candy to the parents so they would have their own to eat and not have to take their kids’ candy.

Ray Jr running down to the end of the driveway with treats for the dogs who were out trick or treating with their owners.

Seeing how happy all of it made my dear friend Ray who really IS the least scary person on the planet…regardless of his costume.

And with that… I’m gonna go get all these freckles off my face and start planning for next year!!
